How will the bike be restored?

We restore our bikes according to the wishes of our customers.

Step 1: Disassemble the bike
We start be disassembling the bike into some 2600 individual parts. Each part, one by one, is restored or replaced with "New Old Stock" Chinese Army surplus parts.

Step 2: Prepare for paint or powder coat finishes
• remove the original green paint by sand blasting
• apply primer undercoat
• sand it by hand for hours or days until it totally smooth
• re-apply primer undercoat again as needed
• repeat the above steps until the surface is ready for the first layer of paint.
• final paint: In our in house paint shop we use BASF, DuPont and other top brand lacquer paints.
• pinstriping or flames are applied as requested by our clients and then clear coated
• our paint jobs are made with great detail and beauty. The final job will be a one of a kind art work. Your are desired patterns or pictures are welcome.

Step 3: Chroming Parts
Chroming parts job was out sourcing to the best plating factory in Beijing China.

Step 4: Polish
Entire engine and gear box was polished. It takes about 7 days but the resulting chrome-like finish is amazing.
　

Step 5: Assemble
After all the paint, plating and polished parts was gathering together then we starting assembly the bike. We only use the stainless bolts and nuts for assembly.
• We change all the gaskets and sealers  to top quality new ones;
• Check and replaced the bearings with top quality German and Japanese made bearings for internal engine and all the wheels;
• New plating custom pipes for great looking, environment friendly and true motorcycle sound;
• Upgrade to a brand new gear box with reverse gear for every show quality bike with sidecar.  

Step 6:Quality control in shop and on the road for test
We will ride the newly assembly bike for at least 200 Km for real road performance test. Most time it is problem free. If there is a problem, we will rework on it and fix it in the spot.

It only takes about 15 days to do the whole restoration.

Tips:

1. All military bikes have a 24HP flathead engine. The gearbox has four forward speeds and no reverse. However, we can upgrade your bike to a 32HP overhead valve engine and install a gearbox equipped with reverse.

2. All 12 V bikes are upgraded to dual 12V electric starter with kick starter.

Stainless Steel Parts

In the restoration process,  in order to increase the durability of the parts,  chinasidecar provide all stainless steel parts which are made by hand. And they can increase the value of the sidecar bike and be kept longer. Chinasidecar also provide the solution how to make stainless steel special vehicle parts by hand.
